Important Trip Tips!
1. Spaces fill quickly. If you have more than one class you'd like to schedule on the same day, or have limited availability for dates, please call early!

2. Visit the restroom before your field trip. There are no restrooms at Conservancy preserves (except Thorne Swift).

3. Classes will be divided into 2 or 3 groups, and each group will have a Conservancy naturalist. Please provide an adult chaperone for each group.

4. Name tags help our naturalists gather student attention and call on students during discussions.

5. Cancellations are determined by your school's policy. Please try to let our office know by 8 am if you are cancelling a field trip (231) 347-0991. Our personal policy is as follows:

Good Weather and Bad
As you might imagine, weather plays a big role in determining when, or if, a program can be conducted, especially for outdoor activities that depend on the frozen white stuff being in great supply. The Conservancy education program policy is flexible to most weather conditions. Without snow, winter programs become just a regular winter hike.

Fall and Spring programs become general nature hikes if hard rain or colder than normal temperatures interfere with plans.  Programs will be conducted rain or shine, unless notified by your school. The Conservancy does reserve the right to cancel a program if temperatures are -5 degrees or colder, or if severe weather is predicted. If possible, try to let the weather become a part of the experience. The main thing to remember is just getting out there and learning about nature!
